“We’re all really excited about making 2112TD. From the beginning our focus has been on detail, both colossal and quantum. Every piece of content is being designed with attentiveness. We want our players to become locked into both the game play and surrounding ambience. All aspects of the games design are heavily influenced by the story and timeline. Through the 2112TD narrative we’ve tried to make something conceivable, introducing real world discoveries and events that are taking place right now. NASA’s Voyager satellites are currently on the periphery of our solar system and they will play a role in setting up the game story. Our geeky players will recognise structures and machinery on the bases that are used in today’s cutting edge science and military. Aside from an integrated story and all the classic features you would expect to find in a tower defence game we are aiming to create a very immersive battlefield experience with many original ideas and visual quirks. Nothing materialises out of thin air in 2112TD. If you want to build a tower you will have to wait for the cargo ship to come and drop off the materials at the build site. The game play is going to be desperate and relentless. Monsters will spawn in large numbers and the player will be forced to use more than just towers to hold them back. For example, we’ve added a feature to the game called the fortification platform. The player can spend credits to activate the fortification platform which will erect a defensive wall on the path. The barricade will result in a pile up of monsters and create a tactical advantage. From here it’s up to the player whether they want to call in an airstrike or deploy an armoured drone to quickly deal with the threat.” James Mazur, Refinery Productions
